So I just got a set of SS brake lines, but I guess I'm used to getting 4 lines when I've done these in the past. This kit came with 4 of one length and 2 longer lines. Can someone clue me in as to why there are 6? I only have 4 calipers

I believe the rears require 2 each side. There is one attached to the calliper and then one between the trailing arm and the frame. The line inbetween is metal

They suck to replace if the subframe isn't lowered, but are so worth it.

ahhh crap thanks for the warnings. Guess I'll be draining the brake fluid pretty much completely for the duration of this one. Maybe I'll have to create some contraption for assisting. I'm assuming dropping the subframe isn't a casual operation.

hahahaha I started on Sunday and walked away from it.

I will be going "back in" later today. Its a pretty major undertaking. I sure wouldn't do it for brake lines.

Having said that you don't need to drop it to change the brake lines.

And long skinny fingers is what we have daughters, wives, and girl friends for. Of course getting them to crawl under the car is another story....

There's a writeup on R3V or E30tech I forget, how to do it with the subframe still in. Takes a lot of patience though.

Get a cheap 14 mm deep socket and a dremel tool and cut the socket to look like an oxygen sensor socket. Snap on sells something like it called a flare nut socket for like a million dollars. You don't need to cut it quite as much.

It doesn't make it a piece of cake, but about 1000 times easier than anything else I tried.

Oh and suck the fluid out of the resivior before you start or it will all drain out on your suspension and garage floor when you disconnect the front lines.

You need an 11 mm flare nut wrench for the opposing side. And you don't need to crank the shit out of them when you tighten them down. Just get them firmly seated. I think the PO used an impact wrench on my 2002.

Sorry I can't find it, I just remember searching those two sites about my ss lines before. I was planning to drop my subframe in the near future to do the lines, subframe bushings & rtabs.
