How to remove throttle cable?
« on: March 02, 2008, 10:05:45 AM »
I´m in the process of removing intake manifold for replacing gaskets.

However, next thing is to remove throttle cable, how is it supposed to do correctly? I don´t want to break it and therefore precise instructions are appreciated!

How to remove throttle cable?

Hokay,

Begin by removing the black plastic retainer thing on the throttle linkage.  Squeezing the halves that pass through it together and pushing will pop it out, though you'll have to be holding the linkage open atr the same time.  The cable/pin slip out of the black retainer.  Make sure to put it back in this way!  It can be easy to put the black thing in backwards so that the pin on the cable will pop out.

Anyway, with that out pull the assembly with the tension-adjustment screw out of the rubber grommet that is mounted in the TB bracket.  Removing the rubber bit is a PITA, and putting it back is tough.  Carefully bend the throttle cable / pin and push them through the grommet.

Done!
