Lifting the engine in/out of the car
« on: December 04, 2007, 03:08:46 PM »
OK.  So I already got it out.  It was easy since the head was off.  When it reinstall the engine, however, I'm going to have the intake, head, etc on there.  The majority of the top end will be powder coated, too, which should make it real easy going...ugh.

Where do I attach the crane?  I see a lifting hole in the rear, but what about the front?  Any suggestions?

Uhh, the lifting eye that's right above the filter canister?  Maybe you can tell me where to look for the lifting hole you're using though -- might need to know that in the future.

A-ha.  I had removed that weeks ago...just found it again.

Took another look at things today....

The other lifting points are:
- rear driver's side at the top of the block
- front passenger side, below A/C compressor bracket

There looks like another lifting point at the rear passenger side, down low where the block and the oil pan meet.  The only problem with this spot is there is a hole in the oil pan to run a bolt through.  Seems like you'd need some sort of L-bracket to slip between the oil pan and the block hole.  Hard to explain, you have to see it.

Don't you just use the hook on the front and the other point that is about that same place in the rear? I will go shoot a few photos.
