I know its a different part number, but are they swapable?
along with my new engine i got supports of an E36, can i use them or must i get M42 supports for the E30?
What if i'll use my current M40 engine support? will they fit?

Go with the M40 supports. I did that also and they fit perfect. They also throw your engine 2-3cm towards the rear (nice weight distribution).

And what about the rest of the car?
need i change location for the gearbox as well?
have the drive shaft shortened?

You don't need to shorten the driveshaft. It's plug and play.

The tranny mounts on the e30 are on sliders and the driveshaft can be adjusted with no mods(expandable).
