ive been driving for a while with both my AC and power steering COMPLETELY deleted. i removed the AC compressor, bracket and belt along with the power steering pump, bracket and belt. all i had left was the accessory pulley. ever since i put my e28 motor mounts in, i could feel certain vibrations caused by the engine. it felt as if the engine wasnt idling smoothly and possibly misfiring (i know its time for a timiing chain/tensioner soon, 191k). i then attempted to remove the accessory pulley. it was held on by 6 13mm bolts and popped right off with a screwdriver. i then used loctite on the bolts and rethreaded them back in to hold the crank pulley. i used a 19mm wrench to turn the crank to check to se if any of the bolts would hit the block why turning since i removed the pulley. after inspecting the accessory pulley, i found several patches of dirt as well as an assortment of rocks wedged on the inside lip, opposite of where the belts sit. i restarted my engine and found the idle to be slightly smoother. the engine also reved a little more freely. took the car for a test drive and it felt "normal" again, like right before i put my motor mounts in. so if you have no ps/ac i suggest removing the pulley. although it weighs less than a pound, it feels like a HUGE weight has been lifted off the engine.
