O2 sensor
« on: November 12, 2007, 08:23:34 PM »
Hi everyone. I'm the proud new owner of a B-red w/ 88k. Its throwing an O2 sensor code, idles and revs kinda lumpy, runs rich (smell) and drinks like a fish. The muffler is rusty and leaks, but I was hoping to put off the exhaust work until I recover a little financially, and just replace the O2 sensor for now.

Is the O2 sensor 'off' until the motor reaches a certain temp (default mode)? The car starts right up and has decent power, but acts up from the moment it starts. I was wondering if this code could be related to something else.

Thanks for the heads up about this forum, FL318is!

The 02 sensor doesn't work immediately after you start the engine i know that for sure. Unfortunately i forgot at what temperature it begins reading...

I'd also replace the O2 relay. It's only $5 and is really easy to replace. You may also want to replace the main and the fuel pump relay while you are at it. Fuel pump is the same type as O2.

NOTE: The Main relay is a specific relay that is NOT interchangable with other relay types. It runs about $15-20.
