Which M42's came with power-steering?

I prefer no PS. Is this possible in an e30 iS? What about e30 318i?

Is it possible to rip the PS out? Replace with manual rack? I know nothing, thanks for the insight. :o

well, you can disconnect the pump, grease up the rack, and plug the hoses...

there are some manual racks (european E30s) or a manual e21 rack could probably be made to work.

I read somewhere that the power-assisted cars actually have a quicker steering ratio

is this true?

two of my friends installed an e36 rack on their e30s, I'm thinking about doing the same thing ;)
