Trouble after gauge swap. Need help.
« on: September 19, 2007, 09:29:51 PM »
I just replaced my gauge cluster. My original was a VDO and this is a Motometer. I used the SI board from my VDO.

The trouble I am having is the board is acting strange. The lights will not come on when the headlights are on. None of the gauges work except for the tach and economy gauges. They work for about 5 seconds then stop.

Could this be because I had the board out of the car for a week or so and the SI batteries need to be recharged or is it something more serious. Everything worked before the swap as I did it mostly for cosmetic reasons.

Ok so I put the matching SI board back into my new cluster and let it run for about 10 minutes and it still has the same problem. Tach works for 5 seconds and then dies. No other gauges work. I also checked the batteries and each one shows 3.07v individually.

Any ideas?
