Changed the timing chain tensioner and...

Took about 10 minutes to swap in the new tensioner today because my engine was a bit chattery lately. i put the new one in and the car is only slightly quieter. it still sounds like a can of marbles, not loud but noticeable, above 4000rpm. what else could this noise be? or is the m42 is known for being loud quote true?
