Judging by the plates I'm guessing tim_s is from the UK?

not bad tim. my stock m42 put down 101hp in 3rd. (some of the US guys quote 120 odd hp, but as we know, US Dynos read higher than ours.)

10% gain is actually quite good.

Now, get that stroker in there and go back for some more.

hi guys, yeah i'm in the UK, and the tyres are 205/50/15s, they look great on a low car like mine but a bit daft on standard ride height.
thanks about the seats, what did you guys get in the states, not the sports seats? the 'indigo' colour seats in mine are pretty rare, didn't like them much when i first had the car but they've grown on me a lot.
the diff is great for me, i used to do a lot of crusing miles so the longer ratio suited me great. its not a big difference though, only a few mph for the same rpm. the ratio will probably be perfect when i have the 2.1 in. the medium case diff is 10kgs heavier than the standard diff though. the diff was certainly worth changing, was probably my favourite mod.

its interesting how the figures on the rollers for our cars vary quite a bit, im happy with the curve and the AFRs on mine, the car pulls strongly throughout and made good figures throughout the rev range. its clearly running as it should. that there were a few horsies in it by just altering the fuelling was good news, i think there should be some good gains with the timing altered too.
we did a run with the AFM removed and although the timing was a bit out and the AFRs leaned a little, it pulled some good figures, i need to lean out the map at 4500rpm as it made a stonking figure there.

We got the sport seats.  They mostly came in boring black vinyl though.

Interesting semi-pioneering project. Do you have access to a stock m42 to compare dynos on a "somewhat" relative scale?

Even though dyno's don't tell the whole picture across continents at least it's relative in the same regions Jake :D

I am not even gonna get started on the shitty aesthetic options US car get....

i'd like to get to some figures from other guys in the UK, but don't have any as yet. This was the first time my is had been on the rollers though. On reflection I'm happy with my figures, both the factory ones and the ones with MS, the AFRs with motronic were low 14s at low rpm and mid/high 13s all the way through mid and high rpms, and the power curve was pretty impressive, nice and strong all the way through. was making some really strong figures from 4k upwards and as a result flattish torque too.
It'll be interesting once I have the MS timing sorted, I reckon there are some more gains to be had with tuning alone. I can get rid of the AFM for good then too. I have a few ideas as to why its not working, if nothing pans out in the next wk or so the unit is being sent off for testing. Then I will be having some road mapping, and mb I will go hybrid alpha-n too. I'm not sure at what stage the stroker block will go in, probably as soon as the timing is sorted. I'm pretty desperate to get it in, summer's comming!
