Just bought my first M42 - 1991 Alpine Weiss II 318is in Minnesota to be my beater/auto-x car for the next few years while I am at grad school at IU in Bloomington, Indiana.
Only paid $1500 for it and got an extra set of wheels and tires too.
It has a Supersprint exhaust and Dinan Chip to go along with the requisite MN rust.  Going to add some new spings, shocks and sways this summer.
According to Carfax and the owner I am the 4th owner and the car has a full service history since 1994 with the original sticker and manual which I could barely believe - the file is like 3 inches thick!
I actually have not driven the car yet, just finished finals, and am flying back to picking it up in MN on Monday - I can't wait.
If anybody knows any good BMW shops or parts places in the Indiana/Kentucky/Ohio area that would be appreciated.:D

As requested, I have attached some pics.

Hey welcome to M42club!  Sounds like a very nice find... especially with that supersprint exhaust... mmm!  Would love to see some pics too.  Cheers.

Congrats. From the pics, it looks like it has camber plates, painted rocker trim, and Magnecor spark plug wires too. I would check to see if it has some other hidden gems as well you when you pick it up.

Sweet buy.  To bad about the rust, but that won't ruin the funnesss(?) of the car.

WAHOO!! another Indiana member!! Looks good except for the rust, but it already has a bunch of goodies on it. If you happen to have any spare cash lyin around, I'd get the front fenders fixed so that the rest doesn't spread to the main cowl of the car (a bit of a problem in spirited driving).

BTW I'm over in Fishers. If you need suspension work done, there is a shop in Carmel called Mikar ( 120 1st Ave SW Carmel, IN 46032-2009. Phone is 317-575-8282) They do very good work and have BMW experience. They will also do setups to customer spec. For other shop info, there was a thread on this here.

heres a pic of my car. sorry its a bit big ;)

Thanks for the info Gearhead.  Glad to hear there is at least one shop around besides Dreyer who knows something about these.  As far as the fenders I am hoping I can find some used ones and just swap them in to prevent the rust spreading - haven't looked at how hard this would be yet though. I just bought a non-rusted front valance too so that takes care of part of the eye sore.

Leavin for the airport in 2 hours to go get her!
