m42 Stroker, turbo high revs
« on: December 16, 2019, 04:18:41 PM »
Hi

I got couple questions regarding the m42 stroker.

I will be stroking m42 with 88mm crank, 86mm pistions and 135mm rods.
I am looking to run 9.5:1 ratio e85 and some decent amount of boost.

I know MM is using 360 degree oil grooves on the main bearings for higher revving NA m42s to keep the rods happy.
However, with the higher loads that the crank will see wit a turbo i am not sure if the grooved bottom shell will be a good idea.
I know Porsche 944/928 folks like to cross-drill their cranks.
I am planning for at least 7.5k rpms and ideally expand it to 8k to have some decent powerband with a larger turbo.

I will use m44 timing cases with larger oil pump.

Whats your recipe for the high-rev proof bottom end?

Please keep the conversation focused on bottom end.

Thank You
