Motronic connector

Hey gang!

I'm new to the forum, but have messed around with M42s over the years with multiple 318is' and a 318ti.  I'm going through an M42 conversion on my 2002, so excited to get that motor back in my life. 

Does anybody know where / how I can get spare connectors to the Motronic ECU without salvaging a stock harness? I'm trying to clean up some wiring, and wanted to see if I can redo the harness, and keep the circuits I need.  Seems like a daunting task, but never hurts to try it out and see if it is feasible.

As far as I know, the 88 pin connector assembly was made by Tyco / TE, and it has not been available for purchase for more than a decade (if it was ever publicly available). If you are swapping an M42 into the 2002, wouldn't you be using an M42 harness anyway?

Or, do you mean the little female terminals that are crimped onto the wire ends at the 88-pin connector? As in, you want to shorten some of the wires and put new terminals on at the proper position to fit well in the 88-pin connector? The female crimp terminals are definitely available still. They are made by Tyco / TE.

I believe that the small terminals are from the Micro Timer I series, and they come in 2 flavors. One has two lock tabs that protrude from the sides and this is NOT what you want. The other flavor which has smooth sides and a lock tab in the middle of the contacts is what you want. Digikey has some, and I believe that these are what you want...you will need to extract the existing terminals and do some measuring to be sure since I don't have anything handy right now.

The larger ones are, I think, Junior Power Timer series contacts. Pull one or two of them from the connector and see which of these is the right one.
