Will 2 door E30 seats fitting into a 4 door?
« on: March 24, 2007, 07:17:49 PM »
I came across a 89 black 325is in the local pik-a-part yard; they will sell me the complete tan interior for $75. Recarro seats will need recovering.

I have a 91 black 318i 4 door with tan interior, just wondering if the Recarro's from the two door E30 are a direct fit, I'm guessing the back seats will be no problem.

The E30 in the pik-a-part yard is a 89 325is, automatic, broken timing belt, 270K on odometer.  The OEM BBS basketweaves have been replace by faded bottlecaps.  I pulled the M-technic steering wheel, map light mirror, OEM trunk lid spoiler. The front grill, bumpers, radiator, and valance has already been picked off the car by someone else. Rear bumpers are in good shape, they are still on the car.

The front is the least of your worries.

Using the rear basically renders your ability to use the back seating area non-existant as the bolsters extend further on the 2 door base portion than the 4 door. Yes it will fit in and look the same but if you actively carry more the 4 passengers, get ready to hear them bicker and complain.

I have my m3 interior in my sedan and I don't carry rear passengers so I could care less....

I'm not sure I can get this any clearer than e9nine, but I'll try.  On the 4 dr rear seat the seat bottom front corners are slightly shorter and more rounded than on the more squared off 2dr.  When I used a 4dr bottom on a 2dr car, a little bit of the uncarpeted portion of the bottom frame was exposed.  Conversely, using a 2dr bottom on a 4dr car would cause it to protrude a little into the passenger leg space.  But, I think the difference would be noticeable only to toothbrush and q-tip wielders.  Sorry no pics.

So you calling me a q-tip wielder? :D  I have the rear seatback from a 4dr since that's the only one I can find in my area with a rear fold down armrest. I also have a gap but I plan on spraying the grey metal under the seats black in color to better blend in with the black seats.
