Changed Air Filter, Code 1215, Bad Idle

This probably sounds ridiculous but I managed to screw up something as simple as changing the air filter. I unclipped it, took out the old one, put in the new one (that's literally all I did) and then the code popped up (1215) along with the inability to hold an idle at all. Confused as to what could have gone wrong with something so simple. Thanks.

It sounds like a vacuum leak. Check your intake boot from the airbox to the throttle body for cracks.

And don't feel bad. It's always the simple things with these cars.

Thanks a lot man. I was almost certain that wasn't the problem until I examined it very, very closely... Seems like some small cracks developed after moving it around to access the air filter. I'll report back to see if replacing that fixes the issue.

It's not uncommon at all for the rubber and plastic to look good, but be brittle and just moving it around will crack it. On a 325i I bought last summer I installed a new throttle body to air box boot. My mistake was not going OEM and I bought a Uro brand which rotted in place in less than one year!

Lol, I never hear good things about Uro. Anyways, installed a new boot (OEM) and the problem persisted. Then the next day I went to start it up again and it started up really smoothly, no fluctuation, was able to hold a steady idle. Did a second start to see if it was only a one time thing. Still smooth. Then a third for good measure, and voila, the problem was back. Any ideas?

I would discount the battery over night.may clear the codes...maybe

I have the same code,found a small tear on the intake boot..waiting on new one!
