control arms and ball joints
« on: March 30, 2014, 10:16:08 PM »
The inner and outer ball joints are going bad. I have 2 318is's my idea is to take the control arms  off the red one and get the ball joints switched out, is there shops that will press the ball joints into the contol arms? The place I work has sand blasters so i can take the rusty control arms in sandblast them paint them and hopefully find a shop to press the ball joints into the control arms if this is possible.

Are there places that will press ball joints into the control arms, or will I have to spend the money and buy 2 whole new control arms?
 Thanks

For about the same price as a shop will probably charge you to do the job, you can buy a Harbor Freight 12 ton vertical press. It is on sale for $120. Then you will have a press, a very handy tool. In my opinion you can never have too many tools! When one of your buddies needs his ball joints replaced you can do it for him and re coop some of your $$$.. You will have the knowledge and the tools!!! Just my two cents.... Skid
