engine redline at startup

Just finished head rebuild so it could anything and I'm stumped, engine redlines at startup and dosnt return to normal idle I'm thinking fuel system or vac leak? Any help is appreciated I'm put a lot of work into this

Check to see that your throttle cable is free moving and not getting stuck.

That's what gets me the cable is free and the butterfly is closed at startup but it revs to 6 to 7 grand without even hitting the petal

Air has to be getting in there somehow...you verified that the throttle is closed at startup?

If it is, check that the intake manifold is properly seated.

Yah its closed at start up. I'll check the intake manifold if there's any other ideas throw em at
me
