Mess Under the Intake Revisted -- noob question
« on: November 30, 2013, 06:11:38 PM »
For those with the pre 10/91 throttle bodies with the smaller heating plate, where are you running your vacuum line from the valve cover?

This is the throttle body with the (2) nipples underneath instead of the (1) larger nipple.

Thanks.

Those are vac lines?!? I thought those were the other version of the heater plate!

No idea here, sorry.

Did you ever find your fuel pressure gauge?  Check it at idle and under load. Is your air boot split? If it seems to have more power in reverse than forward gears, you might have a crack on the boot that opens up under load.
Pi is apparently the multiplier for your engine swap budget as well.

Thanks for chiming in.....but was this message intended for another post? Not sure if it's relevant to my question.

Unless you can explain further, thanks!

I thought I've read that one of them is blocked off on the set up with two nipples?  My car was a 04/1990 and only had one nipple.

I initially was going to block it off.

I needed a new throttle cable bracket anyway, which is about $20 new. I got lucky and saw an M42 Throttle Body for sale for $22.00 on eBay. It's the throttle body with the "one" nipple and the actual heater plate.

Thanks to all those that chimed in. Engine is nearly done. Need spark plugs, COP kit, a few more fuel and vacuum lines, and i should be able to have the project well on its way to completion.
