I am going to do a full race engine build on a budget to try and get e30 m3 power whilst keeping its displacement as is... I am going to do a full race engine build on a budget to try and get e30 m3 power whilst keeping its displacement as is... I do hillclimbs so the 1400-1800cc category is perfect if I went for a stroker engine I would be up against to many turbo cars!
So I have my 1990 e30 318is, I have already poly bushes it throughout, added adjustable Koni's, upgraded injectors to the mustang v8's, had the stock flywheel machined from 12kg's to 6.5 and put in a stage two clutch and short shifter... These things alone transform the car and I have been beating mx5's, mr2's and golf gti's all season! But now I want to catch those lotus Elise boys...
The next stage of the build this winters is, e30 m3 throttle bodies I managed to source from eBay for £180. I have had a custom inlet manifold made by bogg brothers So they bolt straight on to my m42 head which cost me £265 to have made. Cat Cams 290 / 275 with solid lifters and double springs for £1500 and some CP pistons raising compression ratio to 11:1 at £600. A mls Comet head gasket will be fitted as well as new timing chain, crank seals etc. Fritz Bitz UK is going to do the build and Rich is hoping with an Omex ecu and tune we should get in the region of 210hp. So my dream of an e30 m3 will become reality for under £5000 and with an engine it's still easy and cheap to get parts for...
