BMW History Class
« on: October 09, 2010, 09:28:42 PM »
Hey guys, I'm creating a data base of bmw vehicles for a program I'm working on, though I'm having trouble locating some specs on some older models.

1927 BMW Dixi 3/15 DA-1

Torque?
Height?
Redline RPM?
How many were produced?

1930 BMW 3/15 DA-3 Wartburg
Torque?
Height?
Fuel Consumption?

1931 BMW 3/15 DA-4
Weight?
Wheelbase?

1932 BMW 3/20 PS
Weight?
Torque?
Height?
Fuel Consumption?
Redline?

These are specs that seem to be left out of all articles I've read, Though my thoughts are, possibly that the torque for these early cars were so little it was not a notable spec. I'm not sure though.

I've yet to find this Information. I just fired off an email to to BMW, you would figure the maker of the vehicles could provide such info? Maybe not, We'll see.

I'm not sure the info even exists.  I'd be looking for advertisements instead of BMW historical materials.

I'd call BMW NA to see if they'd put you in touch with the BMW Heritage library or historian.  They might have one on staff, likely in Munich.  Their museums are pretty good, I'd expect they have a small staff devoted to historical restorations and documentation.

Spec sheets were unusual in those days, and distorted to avoid road & use taxes as well.

As per your request Dave,I did eventually dig up the information I was looking for. Now I don't quite remember where I pulled these stats from, though I was in contact with a Munich based BMW historian years ago. Some info on the first BMW's ever produced via screenshots from my database program.

A worthy and informative 2 year old thread revival :p
