Where to Find Clock Frame Piece
« on: February 14, 2010, 03:29:49 AM »
Hey guys, my iS came with a loose clock unit. I know from my previous e30 there is a small plastic frame like piece to secure the clock unit. Any ideas where to find the replacement part?

That doesn't hold it in place though, I think it is just for appearance. There is a plastic frame that the clock slides into, clips on top and bottom.

Sorry, no help on where to find one.

Just buy a whole new unit then. I'm sure someone on this forum, if not another, can get you one. They are like 10 or 15 bucks.

Salvage yard or ebay.

I think I may have that piece.  it is like the "receiver" for the clock, right?  The little frame part that houses the clock unit itself?  and you are talking about a 6 button obc, correct?

Yep, that's what he was talking about.

Strangely, I have one too.  Why is there an epidemic of missing 6-button OBCs?

Dave - of COURSE you have one.  I figured you had two of everything!

and it's because they all either a) have a broken screen or b)display hieroglyphics when you touch them.  My old car had a).  My new car has b).  When I replaced the one in my old car because of a), well it then started doing b).

I'm thinking about just getting a euroclock.

gabskee - I can send you mine.  I have no use for it and was going to throw it away - it is sitting in a box in the garage.  Give me your address.......ahh you are in canada, eh?  what is best for that? USPS? Fedex?  I know UPS SUCKS because of paperwork.

Nah, I don't have two running BMWs...but it's good to have a spare, eh?

Those e28 analog clocks are really nice.  LOL, my six-button was doing the heiroglyphs this very morning.  What I really want is a 13-button for mine...just have to figure out how to wire that sucker up!

You can buy they conversion "kits" on ebay from somebody that got all the pieces out of a 325, but they are proud of them.  I also would like a 13 button, but not worth the time or the trouble to me........YET.  My Christmas list right now consists of E30 stuff.  My wife just looks at me and shakes her head, baffled.

I have a complete set or two...just have to grab the code from them, but they don't seem all that tough to reprogram.

Just have to figure out what bits mean what - realtime MPG is so overrated...but I want it nonetheless!
