Keep in mind there are things you can eliminate to reduce the cost fairly significantly.

If you get the 88mm crank, thats an extra $1500 or so right there. You might want to consider using the 81mm crank to save money. Another possibility is to see if they would be interested in building you a bottom end using the M44 1.9L crank. That should provide you more torque and is way cheaper to find in the US. If you do go this route, have them remove the trigger wheel on the last counterweight and reblanace the crank.

I would also pass on the chamber manifold if you are trying to save some $$$. I'm sure its nice, but not a necessity.

I would also pass on the single row timing chain, same deal...nice but not necessary.

I would also consider keeping the factory head with the 7mm valve stems, or just send an e36 head that already has the 6mm valves. I am sure that would save you some coin as well.

Just some stuff to think about which maight make the price more bearable and still give you a very nice engine!

Well, being that I have been saving for a long time, I decided to go all out. I am making the down payment on a MM Rally 2100 motor with all of the bells & whistles (pulse chamber intake, single-row chain, windage tray, lightened flywheel). Form talking to Jim over at MM, it makes the most long-term sense since I'll know that there is nothing left to improve on, which will keep me from messing with it too much, which will probably keep it from breaking.

Thats going to be SWEET. I was just pointing out things you could do to save some money if you were interested. Getting the full kit is definitely the way to go!

Initially I was going to try to keep costs minimized. However, my fiancee has been supportive of the MM motor idea since it is something I really want, and it shouldn't ever break again. Granted, I won't be buying myself any expensive toys again for a loooong time, but I'm happy with this! Since we are getting married in October, I figured I had better splurge while I still can!

Nice..congrats...Yes splurge now before the wedding. Other things come up unexpected. The MM engine is something that will come in handy due to longevity.

Well, I got the deposit down on the motor and they are getting the ball rolling. Apparently I should expect a 6-8 week wait from now! Uugh, I can't wait for this! They have to order the M47 crank from Europe and that alone takes 2 weeks. I assume that they can't do too much work on the block since it sounds like they blueprint everything to the individual parts. Sounds like it is worth the wait though!
