Hello folks. It's been about 3 years since I last worked on my car (worked out of state for 2 years and car was parked).

Before I left, I had installed some Mustand injectors P/N: 0280 155 710

After install, I did not have any problems. Odometer broken, but I estimate at least a few thousand miles on them (5000-10000). Then it was parked for storage.

After it parked about a year, one was leaking when I started it up the first time. Pushed it back in and ran fine for about 20 miles (to move it to another location) then parked another year. Yes, Stabil was used.

Now almost 2 years later (3 years since install), I've driven it a few thousand miles and bam... popped out again. First it was just one injector that popped out (thankfully, the one accessible from the front). I fixed that on Tuesday. Now Friday, a different injector has popped out.

Has this happened to anyone else?
Should I just go back to OEM or the e36 version (I don't know the P/N)?
Is something else causing extra pressure popping these out?
Or did I just not install them correctly?
Replace fuel rail?

This will be a non-track car (except maybe auto-x) run mostly on weekends.

Any wisdom would be appreciated. I did a search and did not find any additional info on this happening to others.

I'm sorry this happened to you melloh, but this is why I have been advocating from the start to use the proper inj's that are meant for our fuel rails. If you don't have anything done to your motor of any substantial amount then there is no reason to change the style of injector or the flow rate or the one hole to four hole! Do you have any idea how lucky you are to have not lost your whole car to a fire on your hot engine?

The stock inj's flow 204cc's in clean form!! Please get another set of stock inj's flowed and cleaned and put them in. Not sure which inj's are stock for you melloh, but I will gladly sell you the last set of 714's I have to keep you from burning up your car.

Everyone....... please watch his video and think about a hot engine, on a deserted street somewhere and no fire extinguisher. Fire trucks are not that fast to respond.
I say this because I've had 2 car fires, one in a '73 2002 when the battery tray broke and arced and the other in my track car from a leaking seal on the internal fuel pump that found it's way to my hot muffler! I had a fire extinguisher in my track car so no damage done. I had to sell my 2002 because the fire trucks were not that close.

Just my .02.....take it or leave it, Or buy an extinguisher for your car.....

That's annoying, I just spent 60 bucks to have a set of these cleaned because the 'mustang injectors' thread says they work fine.

there are 2, at least, and maybe more styles of mustang fuel injectors. some have the same body as the ones that are stock in the m42, and they should be ok. the skinny generation 3 ones are the troublesome ones. even tho some folks swear by them, they do not fit the same, and I agree with Ralph. The stock ones are fine unless you are going racing. People that have trouble out of the stock injectors are probably having trouble because the injectors need to be cleaned, or need new seals. Mustang parts will not save you and they might burn ya down

That is a whole different story. That is the correct style injector for our car. That is the style I'm going to use on my stroker but with about 260cc's 0280150947 which are the Ford Motorsport ones. I was going to use the 0280155715's but they had a recall for leaking and opted not to use them.

Get the proper injector and call it a day. Be safe!

Just realized I never replied! I keep forgetting to subscribe when I start a thread.

Anyhow, thank you for the helpful information. Warsteiner, I will be taking your advice. I have no plans for any significant modifications and yes, I realize how lucky I was that heat or a spark did not ignite the fumes!!!!! This summer I need to remove the fuel rail anyhow to do some work on the cooling system, so I'll be replacing them soon. Unfortunately, I cannot recall what I did w/ the original injectors! Maybe I'll find them in storage somwhere...
