Thinking about selling my Alpine White 1991 318is with about 201k miles that I've had since 2009 (~190k). $2500 or best offer. Everything is stock except mentioned.
- Idle is steady and revs up smoothly
- Compression test around 190k was 198, 220, 200, 230 psi (cylinders 1,2,3,4)
- At ~190k I replaced: front rotors and pads, all tires plus the spare with Sumitomo HTR H4's, and the spark plugs (NGK BKR6EK)
- New starter at ~195k (Bosch)
- Passed CA smog test last April, will be taking it again soon for the sale
- Throttle body heater deleted (done by previous owner)
- E46 rear shock mounts (done by previous owner)
- Clean title
Some bad stuff:
- Metallic whirring/grinding coming from the rear that starts around 30mph, probably a worn diff or wheel bearing
- Runs a little hot (a little past halfway), but not overheating
- Heater core might need to be replaced, I can smell coolant if I leave the selector in the red (I keep it on blue all the time now and keep an eye on the reservoir)
- I busted the latch mechanism on the glove compartment so it won't open now (I'm gonna have to get that open before sale of course)
- One accident in Nov. 2010 where I was lightly rear ended, bumper was replaced with a new one (can't tell the difference), not totaled
- There are pretty ugly scratches over the passenger side of the windshield
Would be a good daily driver, just have to replace the diff or wheel bearings soon. Don't drive it much anymore. I bought it with the intention of fixing it up more but we had a baby along the way so I don't have the time, money, or access to a garage. It still gets 25-30 mpg. Exterior is what it is for a 20+ year car with some scratches and tiny dents. Valence is slightly bumped up. The is lip was not there when I got it. Some white building paint splatters from a previous owner, not too visible unless you get up close (you can see it on the black trim though). I have all 4 basketweave caps, but one is damaged and doesn't snap in. Interior is in pretty good condition aside from dash cracks and some tearing in the driver's seat/bolster. There are several extra items that will be included with the sale that I haven't got around to installing:
- Water pump
- Chain tensioner
- Accessory belts
- Short shift kit
