FS: E30 Trailer hitch

NOS, never installed, includes mounting bolts, but not the ball.  Chrome is peeling in places, otherwise in unused condition.  Fits cars with metal bumpers only.  Max 2000 lb capacity with 200 lb tongue wt.  I think that makes it a Class I.  $125 shipped to lower 48.

Yep, class I.  These are pretty rare!  IIRC they bolt through the floor of the spare tire well, needs reinforced there.

Actually, (it looks like) it bolts to the trunk floor between the spare tire well and the rear valence.

so would this work on a 1991 318is or no?  OP says metal bumpers only.  I'm in the market to pull my itty bitty 4X8 folding Harbor Freight trailer.

Let me clarify, the longer horizontal support bar bolts to the trunk floor, the shorter one bolts to the bottom of the rear bumper.

I suppose you could fabricate a steel support to extend between the rear bumper shocks on a plastic bumpered car and bolt it to that, but the hitch was designed to be installed on metal bumpered cars.

I have original BMW/Westfalia trailer hitch. I suppose what you got is something made in the USA.... Oem items "hook" can be taken off easily in seconds and electric connector can be turned behind a bumber, so, when not needed you cannot tell there is a trailer hitch, everthing is hidden behind the bumber. Oem item is bolted on to bumber attchmnet points, no need to drill any holes to car's bottom
