How do I set it, the adjustment for the M44 guide (on M42 engine). Little loose and tighten down, tighten a little, then tighten bolt?

I haven't studied that procedure thoroughly (I'm doing it myself tomorrow) but Bentley says you need to use a feeler gauge to adjust the clearance.
I'm short of details for you. I don't have the Bentley in front of me; it's at the shop where I'm working on my car, 20 miles from my house.

I can post our method after I finish, sometime tomorrow afternoon.
Hope that will help.

Turns out it's very easy.
Turn the slotted adjusting sleeve until the sleeve contacts the chain case, then install the filister head bolt.
Hope that helps.
Turns out I was way mistaken about the feeler gauge bit -- now I'm not sure where I even read that. My apologies for the red herring.
