timing issues?
« on: October 09, 2011, 07:53:49 PM »
ok so i had to replace my timing chain tensioner , as everyone does with an m42 but since i did that it seams like my timing is off. It has a very even lobe to it , like it has a cam . is it possible that the car jumped a tooth ? what can i do to check and even adjust the timing to get it running the way it should .

How did you install it. Extended or not extended?  Also how sharp are the camshaft gears teeth?

it was extended because it came apart in my hand when i was trying to get it in , i didnt get alook at the teeth because i didnt take the timing cover off , i just popped the tensioner in and that was it. Is there a way for me to check the timing and see if that might be the problem?
