Rear Window Seal tips?
« on: October 29, 2006, 06:25:38 AM »
Anyone got any tips for installation of the retaining strip for the rear window seal?

What a PITA - I pulled the strip from half the rear window to put some silicone in until I can get the new seal from BMA, and it took me like 45 minutes to put it back in, slowly working my way along with a tiny screwdriver, like half an inch at a time.

I tried sliding the screwdriver along the seal, tucking the retaining strip in as I went, but it did not work very well. I'm hoping that the new seal will be slicker/easier to work with.

new ones are harder sadly, they are really stiff.  Just take your time and watch out for the paint ;)  they make a tool for it but I prefer the simple flathead screwdriver.

Looks like this. I've had just as good luck with the small screwdriver method also.

Well, who'd've thunk...

:)

I've tried a couple of different tools, including the plastic dinnerware knife, and keep coming back to the small flatblade as well.

Ahh, well.

Thanks guys!
