What happenned and is happening...
Ok, here is the deal.
We went down on tues. due to a server issue I assume. However for some reason no one would respond to my emails. This may or may not be true, because someone may have not bothered to see the server had been turned off for a reason, I have no way of knowing if it was off, crashed or what during that time. In any case I called wed. and we were back up. Mid thursday or friday, we were down again. I emailed tech support for a reboot and they did not respond again. I emailed a few tiems and got nothing. I called late friday night and got through and was told it had been disconnected due to it sending fake Pay Pal emails out. I can understand shutting it down in that case, but here is where things went south.
The guys who turned it of, emailed me mid Friday about the problem. Problem is, his email was blank. By the time I called, he had left for the day. Now this is a major host, nota rinkey dink fly by night setup and the internet is a 24/7 operation, not business hours. Apparently, only HE can turn it back on once he turns it off. What the f#cking hell!?! After some discussion I am told he will be in on Sunday. I am raging, but ok. Sunday I call at about 2pm Cali time. He already went home! WTF, he never even checked his email!.
Monday I call, he is not there, BUT, aparently another guy in that department is (funny, I was told only one person can turn it back on). He tells me what happenned, and I get them to agree to turn it on, so I can make a backup, but, if it starts sending mail again, they will kill it. I make a backup and start setting up a new server on a new host, unbeknownst(sp?) to them. Unfortunately, while the new setup seems easy enough and is cheaper, NOTHING wants to work. I spent 2 weeks on it, 3-6 hours per day, and still it refused to work. When I got one thing working, I would have to start on the next, Every step of the way. Plus, someone already is trying hacking it. I firewalled them off though.
At this point, the old host wants $ to setup a new server and not even look into how it was hacked, and the new host wants $ to fix a problem they created by not properly setting up the server before I got it. Either way I have no way of knowing how the server was hacked, so I figured f@ck it, I will turn this one on, update it and see what happens. For some reason the old host really does not care to find out how it was hacked (I think I may know why). I am pitting both hosts against each other for my business.
Currently, I am waiting on another member to get me some info so I can update the forum, and turn it back on. Keep in mind it may go back down again for updates or changes though. Once I get the info, it will take only a few minutes to actually get it back online, provided the server is not shut down before that for spamming again.
No one ask me for a loan, I am tapped out (not to mention burned out).
