Weird interior electronics...
« on: February 01, 2011, 05:35:04 PM »
So I bought my 1991 E30 318i in November, I just got the time to really explore the car, I know without seeing it firsthand it's hard to tell me whats going on, but I thought you might at least have some ideas...So there was a Nokia phone system hooked up with a charging holder on the passenger side of the center console, a standard business phone hooked up by the ebrake, a "microphone" hooked up by my telltale sensor panel above the rear view mirror, a pioneer aftermarket cd changer that the OEM radio acknowledges but gives an "ERR" message when it's selected, and finally an alarm (Cliffords) that blinks indicating it's on or whatever, but never ever works and the siren under the hood has wires that are busted to hell...any ideas? Thanks all.

All not factory options. You need to look at each item on its own or just remove it all. Thats what I would do.

The BMW business phone was an OEM option, maybe that's the setup you have?  I wired an aftermarket Blaupunkt head unit in mine to get MP3, USB, aux & bluetooth.

I'd pull them & replace with something up-to-date.  My suggestion is something that can display in red like the OEM controls do.  It just looks right.  My next unit won't even have a CD, just USB or SD card & maybe a rear camera option.
