Oxygen sensor control
« on: October 18, 2010, 09:22:27 PM »
Did a stomp test and got a code, So I connected my Diagnostic tool and it says oxygen sensor control, code 201. I had the option of checking the Lambda heater from the diagnostic tool and everything checked out ok. I heard something clicking on and off? Erased the code and I'll see if it comes back. I've been having some ugly symptoms lately. When the car is just out of the cold temperature zone, if I give it a bit of gas in neutral and it comes back down to idle, I get a surge for about 10 seconds. Sometimes the car dies, and sometimes it fixes itself. If I try and give it gas in gear it's like it doesn't want to go anywhere, just bogs and bogs until it catches and then starts acting normally. Another thing is in the lower gears, if I'm feathering the throttle the car shuts off for a split second, check engine light flickers on and then the car turns on again. Happens once in a while and it scares the shit out of me in the morning when I'm still half asleep lol. Any ideas?

Isn't there a relay that controls the oxygen sensor on an E30 M42? It could just very well be an oxy sensor. They are actually a maintance item according to the E36 Bentley manual.

Yes, the relay is brand new and so are all the other main relays.
