318is 1990 For Sale
« on: July 02, 2010, 06:46:06 AM »
Has been a consistently reliable car, has done nearly 243,000 miles, last MOT cost £50. Alloy wheels, electric window, sunroof etc as standard and engine immobiliser fitted. Great car, 3 previous owners, has had oil change approx every 5-6000 miles. Now requires an enthusiast with more time and skill than I currently have to restore it.
Formerly red, but consistent with cars of this age has matured into pink going on white.

Taxed until end of Aug and MOT mid July
Recent service recommended work:

•   Breather pipes need replacing, as do plug leads
•   Exhaust is rusty/weak, and exhaust box strap broken
•   O/S/R handbrake cable in poor condition
•   Power steering rack leaking oil (I tend to top it up about every 3-4 months)
•   Front and rear brake discs rusty and worn, front tyres worn on inner edges
•   Rear brake pipe ends rusty
•   Subframe mounts perished and dropped
•   Rear diff leaks oil (it always has)
•   There are also a few spots of rust (as pictured) but generally it’s not too bad. (It was based in Germany in it's early life, so was spared the salt).
It’s more than driveable, but currently sounds throaty due to the breather pipes / plug leads.

Threw me for a loop with "1990" in the title. Then  I realized this is a Euro car.

If you do not sell, I have dibs on parts.

Sure thing.. I'd prefer that it stays on the road, but it depends on the interest

In five more years I'd have you tossing that into a boat for a little trip 'cross the pond...the plaid seats are awesome and it looks like it's in decent shape overall.
