Hi everyone,
I finally found a machine shop that will do the work. PITA finding one down here!
All I need is the pistons (S52) and the M47 or M44 crank
The 318i will be down for some time but I have a back up ride (97 M3/4/5)
If someone can post a link or step by step instructions on taking the engine out, tools required, what exactly has to be torn apart, etc., will be greatly appreciated. My intention is to keep the $ as low as possible and use it as a learning experience by doing as much work I can.
This will be my first time taking an engine out. I'm a bit nervous but I feel confident I can do it.

I have an E30 Bentley manual and a Haynes E36 manual.
Once it is out, I'll be asking the forum lots of questions about pulling the engine apart. For instance, to remove the head, is it a simple loosening of studs/nuts and voile, its off? Or is does it involve intricate steps. These are some of the questions I will be asking.
In addition, I plan on upgrading the clutch and FW.
More to follow...
Regards,
Chris
