Weak link, just HG?
« on: June 13, 2010, 12:34:03 PM »
Recently started building an M42 for a very wild project, ordering parts, but it seems aside from the HG and studs i need not order most anything else.

Where do ringlands on these let go?
Where to Rods let go?
Bearing Issues at all?
How far can you rev stock Valve Train?

All answers are appreciated guys, my guess was to run (15-20psi - 250-300whp)

With:

Je coated  8.5:1 Pistons
arp Full block hardware
mls Hg

Stock rods / (new) bearings / crank

and just tune it out...

this all sound about right?

There is some good reading in a pdf from metric mechanics. Covers all the potential weak points on the engine, and how they deal with them. On my phone now, or I'd dig up the link. Anyone else got it handy?
