It depends on your weather + temps. Where do you live?
If you still have your manual, it gives you a chart of oil weights and operating temperatures.

I'm in New York-an hour north of city..... Getting a rebuild back soon. I heard it is best to use mineral oil when you have a new engine so it breaks in better then switch to synth.. Ever hear this claim before?

I use non-detergent straight 30 weight. 500 miles only and then change to whatever oil weight you want to use.
