OK... some assistance and any tips or advice are definitely needed right now.  I am wanting to drop a 94 325is motor in a 92 318is both are e36 chassis.  will the 325 motor go right in is there a conversion kit.  How big of a job will this be I have an excellent mechanic, but my concerns are simple what will i need to make this project be legit..concerns are the ecu brain, exhaust, tranny, water pump, radiator, please input all tips, regarding mechanical procedures, necessary parts and genius know how.  I know many people have done this but i want to make this as simple as possible as I have found several motors from e36 chassis......calling all bmw enthusiasts.....lol  Thanks guys.

r3vlimited has MUCH more info on this topic. Do yourself a favor and search before you post over there.

Sell the 318is and buy a 325is.

If this conversion is in any way shape or form supposed to herald the 'ultimate thread' then why are you talking 325i and not S52..?

I agree, don't mess up a perfectly good 318is when there are plenty of 325is out there to be bought instead :D
1991 318is (Sold to brother :()
1995 530i (Daily driver til I find another 318is!)

Sure you could put a 325 engine in your 318is, but you would be better off buying a 325is instead.  If you're going to really upgrade the engine go with the S52 engine from the 1996-1999 M3 and M Roadster.  This company, Zionsville Autosport has a DVD to help you and your mechanic with any possible questions on exactly how to do it from start to finish.
