e36 Cruise Control Retrofit
« on: July 25, 2011, 03:11:36 PM »
Hello. I'll not create a new theme and I'll ask here. People, somebody here install the cruise control on 1.8i (or some else) gasoline E36?

I have a е36 gasoline 1.8i 1994. I have decided to put(retrofit) cruise on my е36. The cruise computer-module and actuator with all wires are from the donor 2.8i 1996, on which all worked... All have connected, but doesn't work! Diagnostics sees cruise... all must work, but....i have one wire not connected. I don't know where to connect the wire №7, there something for automatic transmission is , but i have the manual, and cruise control is from е36 with manual and where has been connected wire №7(yellow/brown) I don't know. If somebody knows the answer on this problem, please help.
There is the scheme. For year 94 and 96 they are identical (for engine 1.8i and 2.8i too)

I found this on the internet:

http://www.scarolas.com/98e36m3/BMW%20E36%20Cruise%20Control%20Upgrade%20-%20DIY_v.2.pdf

Might be a help, those instructions are complicated however.  He mentions something about "coding" the cruise actuator, that might be the problem you're having.
