First of all, I am just figuring out this valance/spoiler/lip thing.
On this car, I believe the valance IS red and there is a plastic black spoiler of sorts mounted to it, that raps under somewhat.

I am looking for input on what and where it needs....

compare it to the side shot of the other red vert you posted

my 91 calnce looks like this, although ti has had a fight wiht a curb and lost its lip, both with po

crap , not enought posts to uplopad a pic I guess

but anyway

get a pic of your valance and post it so others can see and we can help more

I'll try to get a better pic but in the mean time, perhaps this will help:

That front valance is all messed up.  It should have brake duct holes and foglights or at least blanks where the foglights should go.

That car looks like someone smashed up the valance. Then rather than repair it, they cut it off and attached a lower valance piece from a 1984 318i.

Note the white 1984 318i below. Yours should look like the silver 318is.

Big value deduction for that mess. Its not and easy fix.

Never mind. I can never get photos to upload to this site.  Do a google search. You'll see what i mean.

Googleing an 1984, I think that it may just be the 1984 set up..

just as I suspected
you dont have a valance, its gone, someone wacked it off

its not that big of a nghtmare, and I just sold a red one and a white one, so they are available. its about a 2 hour job, wiht one in hand, double the time, if you have to go pull one from the wrecking yard

or go with a nice aftermarket one

however, wht else is wrong , your probabally missing the brake ducts ( that go from the brake scoop in the valance to the fender splash), the temp sender, and of course fogs, do you have a fog switch next to yoru hedlight, if so, then you had fogs to begin with , rarely see a vert witho ut them

so buy a red one, and you will look good in one night

so if you want, spend some time, look at the front fenders and hood, they should have bmw stickers on them with numbers thta match the vin number of the car. ON the hood, its by the back roller, pass side,  on the fenders, they are on top , where the fenders bolt on, in the vacinity ( in line with  the afm, and the washer bottle), . if they are missing or say DOT and not the vin numbers, they are replacemnet, and the car has had more done to it then you were told, thus the wacking of the valance

Thanks, good points.
What can I expect to pay for the proper valence and lip?
