I recently found out that the e36 316i has a single mass flywheel... did anyone thought of mounting that along with the pressure plate to his m42 ?

Why don't you use E30 M40 316i/318I flywheel. Plenty of those available in most european countries almost free. Will bolt on directly in to your M42

Exactly what I said... smaller engines with less hp dont have a twin-mass flywheel...

Try it. As far as bolt on affairs it will weight about as much as a M20 swap, but will bolt right on without any dicking around using a bunch of different parts.

Only benefit to the M20 is that it can be lightened a hell of a lot more.
