We pulled a 91 318is out of the junkyard and it turned out to be an albatross. Its now mechanically in running condition. The RPM gage does not work which I plan to get fixed because I am new to the manual cars and really need it....

But my question is should I redo the carpet or just buy new covers for it and just say heck with it? Would it be worth the extra expense? Also Should I reupholster the seats or just buy seat covers?

I also heard that they only built this 318is coupe for about 9 months and only produced about 2 thousand of them. Is this also true?

I would say-that this would all depend on what your expectations are to be for her. BMW's in general to me represents class and elegance, so this is a very important question you should ask yourself Mr. Thompson. The very history of Bavarian Motor Works and how the company started in 1917(officially) forces me to be immensely intrigued. Max Fritz, Max Wiedman, Karl Rapp Motorwerkes of 1913, BMWIIIa, 25 july 1917-the termination of Rapp and why?. etc..... Mr Thompson.

Does it have a sunroof? The ones that don't are actually sought after since they are more rare and don't have the extra weight up high of a sunroof. The 318is is not hugely rare. Dunno how many were imported, but it's not worth doing the work on it unless it makes you happy.

It does have a sun roof. And that does make sense. I'm in that limbo of doing it and not. Has anyone else reupholster there car and if so how much did it cost.
