how to check swaybar links

I have some front suspension noise, some creaking and what seems to be minor clunking. I believe it is my sway bar links. What would be the best way to test them if visually they look fine? Remove them and drive around the block? Will lift the car and then jerk and play with steering while someone is check underneath.

Any ideas?
