Can the front driver's side and passenger side seatbelts be swapped? There is some very light fraying on my driver's side belt and I'm worried it won't pass tech at a national event. Honestly the belt is otherwise fine, but tech can be really anal; if I thought it were a real safety issue I'd get it replaced. Swapping the two would just be the easiest solution...

Might just be easier to replace with a good used one.

That would be the next step. I guess I better not shaft my passenger, huh? :p:

The belt itself isn't a very high demand item. I would find someone with a parts car, they would probably give you the belts for next to nothing. Might as well do it right the first time.

Ahh, good point! I hadn't considered parts cars as a source...not used to thinking in those terms. :o

The belts for the 2 door and the 4 door are different, BTW. I don't think you can swap them side to side, but I've never tried.

Thanks, I may just swap one of those. I'm 99% sure the backseat will never see action of any kind...

Be careful with the steering wheel though...accidentally hitting the horn is a great way to ruin a moment...

Well, the car passed NHRA tech at the dragstrip down the street from my house, and those guys have a reputation for being tough. The guy actually glanced at the seatbelt and tugged it. Maybe it's not such a big deal after all.

When I got my Celica teched for the San Diego National Tour this year they were far less thorough. May not be a big issue after all.
