1995 318i M42

I noticed oil seeping out of the cap and down the valve cover. I replaced the cap and it still leaks. It doesnt leak at idle, but when Im driving it.

Could this be a result of too much oil? My car calls for 4.5 quarts, but it takes 5.5 to be happy on the dipstick. The year M42 I have the dipstick was made an inch longer by BMW to be routed different. I dont know if this is significant, it should still read the same.

Is it possible that you may have to much oil in the motor?

No. The crankcase ventilation hose coming off the valve cover must be clogged.

Thats good to know. My crankcase ventilator took a shit on me last week, making my car idle EXTREMELY rough and whine super loud, so I capped off the ventilator and put a breather on the hose. It must not be venting enough, I might run an open hose for a day, my pelican order of 2 rear shocks and the CCV is gonna be here Monday. Thanks for pointing that out.
