Help with which wires need power/ground to control windows/locks on a 1991 4 door 325

Hey guys,

I'm working on a senior design project for my school.

For one part of the project, i need to be able to unlock/lock and roll up/down the locks and windows of a 1991 BMW 325 rear passenger door.

I was searching for wiring diagrams and found

But things haven't worked out so well.

I took pictures of the harness, and I was hoping someone could tell me which wire/combination of wires are required to:

1. Roll up the window
2. Roll down the window
3. Lock the door
4. Unlock the door.

I found on the window harness, that if i ground black, and apply power to blue, the window rolls down, so I took care of #2.  But I can't figure out the combination to roll it back up.

The locks are scaring me though, i thought it would straight forward, black for ground, white for unlock, blue for lock.  But when i apply power to blue or white, i just hear clicking sounds...and now the mechanical lock itself (the pull up and push down) is stuck??  The handle is stuck too...so I assumed it's locked.  But yeah like i said above...i can't pull the latch up from the inside to unlock the door =.=

Hopefully someone can tell me the appropriate combination (colors) needed to get this to work.

Locks (maybe window?), we have:

Blue
White
Blue/Green (Thick, along the ring)
Blue/Green (Thin, in the center)
Black
Black/Yellow






Window, we have:
Blue/Green
Green/Blue
Black/Yellow
Black
Blue (hidden behind the blue green, left one)




I NEED to have this done by this friday...so please, hopefully someone can help me out.

The thinner solid blue, solid black, and solid white wires connect to the door actuator. From the schematic, blue-black appears to lock, while white-black appears to unlock.

Black/yellow --to terminal 5 on window switch connector

Thinner blue/green -- to terminal 3 on window switch connector (power source)

Thicker blue/green -- to terminal 4 on window switch connector

Black wire on terminal 1 of window switch connector-- to window motor connector

Blue wire on terminal 8 of window switch connector -- to window motor connector

Pressing the up button on the window switch connects terminals 1 and 4 to 3
Pressing the down button connects terminals 5 and 8 to 3

The OP mentioned earlier that putting power on blue and grounding black caused the window to go down. If he would have reversed those connections, the window would go up. When I've had to do this, I applied power at the two wire connector from the window motor.

When I swapped rear door harnesses, I had to *gently* pry out the window switch connector wire terminals so I could get that part of the harness to squeeze through the circular opening in the rear door.

2011 edit: with the rear door harness, it's possible to push the grommet through the circular opening in the front part of the rear door, and that way you don't have to remove the window switch terminals from the connector.
