Cloth Euro Sport Seats. New Pics Added!!!
« on: March 15, 2009, 01:44:38 PM »
For my '91 318is I picked up a set of F/R cloth sport seats from a E30 Euro 323i.  These are the grey square jacquard-weave velour with black vinyl sides and backs.  I'm impressed with these overall -- The quality is far superior to the stock "is" pieces with their silly clamshell backs and flimsy cable controls.

Aside from the need for a good cleaning, they're in pretty good shape.  As a bonus, they came with the Recaro mesh headrests.  Even got two more mesh headrests that were added to the rear seatback.  Don't have the doorcards, but maybe I can fab some.

What I'd like to know is if I can still obtain the grey velour from someplace.

Also, I'm missing the plastic release levers on the side of the seatback -- the ones used to gain access to the back seat.  Are they available?  Part number?

Sounds sweet, do you have any pictures?

For the cloth you may just need to find a good auto upholstery shop in your area.  You could try and find the shop that local dealerships use for installing aftermarket interior accessories (different seat upholstery, sunroofs, cruise contorl, etc.)  At least in my area that's the best place to go.

For the plastic levers, they may be the same as any 2-door E30 seat.  You could probably find some that will work from used seats or at a junkyard.

Thanks for your reply.

Seats look like this except for the mesh headrests:

The local shop in Marin County does all the BMWs and Audis plus a bunch of restoration work.  They are excellent, but not inexpensive.  I can get a jobber price if I ask my boss...well...maybe...

I've got the levers from my current sport seats, but they are different.  Might have to do some more research...

these look like the euro recaros that came in the e30s on special option cars.  unfortunately,  i think they only look like them because of the tilt adjustment being wrong.  the front bar for adjusting the thigh bolster is set up like the e21 and e24 recaros but the lever to tilt is not right.  very cool and i wish i had them

Try http://www.worlduph.com/hubpageBMW.htm. I was looking for the OEM door panel material and they had it...$103/sq yd.

I went to a couple of shops and they all ran about the same.
