PLEASE Dont tell me to search, i know how the feature works

Has anyone on this site had first hand accounts or personal use of a Sparco or similar strut bar with an M42 powered E30? And, if so, were any modifications needed to make the bar fit?

Currently i have a NLA Hartge bar, which will be for sale at some point, on the car. I am going to be installing Vorschlag camber plates and i know for a fact that i will be unable to adjust the camber plates with the current strut bar.

Other suggestions for bars are helpful as well. Anything that mounts onto the innder two bolts and does not 'cap off' the top of the strut tower should work.

I bought the steel Sparco bar but it did not fit my car - it was too wide or too narrow (I can't remember which). I then bought an Eibach aluminium bar (3 piece type) and the only problem I had was that the holes did not line up too well and I had to make some minor adjustments with a drill. I had Kmac camber/castor plates and I was able to adjust with the Eibach bar. It also made a noticable difference to front end feel.

Just fitted a steel Sparco bar to my 318is. Had to ream out the holes alittle bit and hammer a bit where the bar hits the intake manifold.

I just had to 'clearance' it a little at the intake manifold, no reaming required. Put it on, mark the area where you need some room, then take it off and put it on a sandbag/bag of mulch/the equivalent, and let fly.

Where is the best place to get that bar? I have a small amount of paint cracking in the fenders from Autox stress on stiff springs, and I'm hoping a bar will solve/help the problem.

how did you clear the intake manifold?
did you have to bent or hammer it?

also... engine vibration won't hit the bar?
