Melted a coil??? wiring issues...
« on: June 19, 2006, 10:58:23 PM »
So I melted #4 coil on my 91 M42, how does this happen? and why #4 and the other 3 are fine? I am pretty sure something is messed up with my wiring. I will post a photo of my battery distribution block...

Possibly it's time had come. Nothing last's forever. Per the old expression: "When you hear hoofbeats, think horses - not zebra's." Now if the next one melts.....
You've checked the wiring for shorts, especially the coil connectors. Might want to consider replacing all four coils just to save the trouble with the other three that probably aren't far behind. It did need a motor and a wiring harness.
