How not to break in an M42.
« on: June 18, 2006, 12:13:53 PM »
So i went on my first drive yesterday when my friend came over to see the car.  Although i didn't have plates, reg, or ins, i decided to take a few backroads very close to my driveway.  My brother says, "you shouldnt drive that right now." I say, "We just drove it from Southern California to Southern Oregon, i think i'll be okay."  So i drive.

After a 100mph long, sweeping corner and braking for a suggested 35, i exit the apex to see a State Trooper in the oncoming lane. I was going 64. (Could have been doing more, i was 6/10 at most) i pass him at maybe 60 (55 limit here) and watch my mirror to see a cloud of dust and falshing lights. Not again...  I pull over in a nice looking spot and wait for the officer.  Maybe i could have lost him, taken some turns and onto some more backroads but didnt want to deal with that, it had been a long day and i'm a nice guy.  We talk and he then writes me a ticket for 64 in a 35, although i tell him he can't do that, because that is suggested and a posted 55.  he denies that, then goes back to his car to leave.  As i wait for him to go, he comes back and writes a new ticket, citing me only for the registration and not for the moving violation and ins.  NIce guy. instead of 242, it was $97.  So my car altogether cost me $1,900, not $1,800.  Thats the way i have to look at it or i'll just be angry...

(i was stupid, shouldnt have been driving i know but if only i brought my V1...)

That sucks.  Dont EVER argue with cops though, do that in court where it counts.

What did he do with the original speeding ticket? if you still have it, then I would think he just gave you a no registration on top of the speeder.

he scribbled it out and wrote the registration one on the same ticket.  he said he felt bad b/c that would kill my insurance at my age (18 in July.)
I've had 2 previous speeding violations and been pulled over liek 13 times or something, ranging form having foglights on to a very spirited and LSD-induced Uey.

i drive slow in town i just like to go fast when no cars are around on twisties... seems liek evry stupid move i make there is a cop to document it.  i swear its the Oregon police, they are very anal and everywhere. In Cali i always feel safer from cops..
