Oil filter alternative?

Our engines have that wretched oil cartridge. Do we have any options? I really haven't looked to see if it's bolted onto the block or not. So I'm just throwing this out there. Can we do something like oil filter relocation? I mainly would like to use a good filter, i.e. K&N.

thats gonna take some creativity... to contrast you, im quite happy with the cartridge design, so easy to replace (:

I like the cartridge too...  much cheaper!  :D
