AcSchnitzer318is (Warning: Lots o BIG Pictars)
« on: August 04, 2008, 07:51:54 AM »
Well here's my attempt at some decent shots with my cheesy point and shoot.  After editing I think they came out as good as a P&S can.  I took about 100 pics total... big believer in "if you throw enough sh^t on the wall, somethings going to stick."  I'm VERY happy with them.  I still want to get a D40 or D60 in the future though.  Let me know what you guys think.  If you have any questions about the car... just ask.  I'll post a mod list later.

My favorite is the pic where you look like you are parked under a bridge. Looks cramped  but its a great angle

Thanks for the compliments guys...

actually that bridge is about 30 feet off the ground... it's an optical illusion that makes it look so low and close to the car.  Those are my favs too btw.  I am going back there when I get a dslr.

Best mod? low mileage rebuilt motor! FTW

I'm surprised how low your car looks only on H&R sports. Did you get the ones spec'ed for the '84 318? Did you take out spring pads? Looks lower than other 318 i've seen.

Sorry about that... didn't see your question until now.  Actually, I get that alot from ppl.  But AFAIK they are regular H&R sports for the 91 e30 318is.  I wonder if it looks like that due to the 100lbs worth of stereo I have in the trunk :)

I'll be downsizing it soon as that is too much weight to add to the poor girl.  Though she did run a good 17.07 at the track and my buddy says with him driving (he weighs 100lbs less than I do and is over a foot shorter) and without the stereo he bets it will hit a 16.7 or 16.8... which from what I've heard is really good for these little things in the quarter.

Thanks!  Shadowed badges are the only way to run... unless you are going for a 100% restoration to original type of thing.  I just pulled them and sprayed them with a semi gloss black that matches the shadowline on the car.  It's a high temp engine paint that I've used on all kinds of things.

Thanks for the compliments on the photos... like I said I shoot a million pictures and keep about 20% of them.  Bound to get some good shots if you take enough.   I can't wait for an slr of some sort.  Will wait to get that though til after I put the turbo I picked up into the car.

Your smilies appear to be in great condition.  Where and how much did you buy them for?  Looks like 200 is the going rate..

Got them off a forum member on R3V.  Cost was $240 shipped, but came with euro filler, euro plate, german check panel, and the smilies.  I'm pissed though because I have a rock chip in one of my highs.  Anyone know if those are interchangeable from H4 headlights or US ellipsoids?  I would imagine they are.

Thanks... 60 5mm amber LEDs per side.  Wasn't that bad to make, but still takes alot of patience.  I plan to do another set of tails using the smaller 5mm soon to see how it looks.  I did the big 8mm ones to guarantee daytime visibility, but the front turns are perfectly visible with the 5mm.  Costs a TON of money in LEDs though with so many 5mm's.
